Marta Miranda, Psy.D., ABPP

Dr. Miranda is a licensed and board certified clinical psychologist based in Washington, D.C.  She obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the George Washington University. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Fremont Community Therapy Project in Seattle, WA, where she was trained in assessing and treating individuals with complex trauma presentations. Dr. Miranda specializes in the forensic assessment of individuals who have experienced betrayal and institutional betrayal trauma. She has served as an expert witness in civil cases related to employment discrimination, workplace physical and/or sexual assault, and personal injury. She has also evaluated defendants in criminal matters, including determining mental state at the time of the offense and competency to stand trial.

    Dr. Miranda has held academic appointments at The George Washington University in Washington, DC and at Antioch University in Seattle, WA, where she taught and supervised doctoral students in psychological assessment. She has published on topics related to culturally responsive assessment of psychological trauma. She has also served as a leader in the governance bodies of the American Psychological Association (APA) and APA’s Trauma Division (Division 56). Dr. Miranda is also fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
