Forensic Psychological Services
Medlin Treatment Center has been a trusted source for forensic psychological evaluations for nearly 30 years. Our forensic psychologists have obtained the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and Temporary Authorization to Practice (TAP) which allows them to conduct virtual and in-person evaluations of clients located in the 43 states that participate in PSYPACT. We offer forensic psychological evaluations, legal consultation, and expert testimony in both criminal and civil lawsuit cases in the specialty areas of sexual abuse and sexual offending.
Forensic Psychological Evaluation
A forensic psychological evaluation is a specialized assessment by a psychologist for the legal system that focuses on addressing a specific legal question. A forensic evaluation involves interviewing, psychological testing, and review of relevant records. In the area of sexual abuse, we offer forensic evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults for criminal and civil cases. We also offer forensic psychological evaluations addressing competency to stand trial, mental state at time of crime, and parental fitness in child custody cases.
Psychosexual Evaluations
A psychosexual evaluation is a specialized, in-depth psychological assessment used in legal cases to understand an individual's sexual history, sexual interests, and potential risk for problematic or illegal sexual behavior, helping courts and attorneys make informed decisions about treatment, sentencing, or supervision. It involves detailed interviewing, standardized psychological testing, psychosexual testing, record review, and risk assessment measures.
