Maria Valgoi, Ph.D.

Dr. Valgoi is a licensed psychologist who specializes in the prevention, assessment, and treatment of psychological trauma. She is licensed in Illinois and has Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Psychology which allows her to practice telepsychology in the 43 states that participate in PsyPact. Dr. Valgoi is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. She also provides clinical care to complex trauma survivors in the Friedell Clinic in South Chicago.
Dr. Valgoi received her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and completed the predoctoral internship in the trauma track at the Medical College of Georgia / Charlie Norwood VA consortium in Augusta, Georgia. She also completed fellowship training in complex trauma and adolescent risk assessment at Harvard Medical School’s Victims of Violence Clinic and Safety Net Collaborative. Most recently, she earned a certification in psychedelic assisted psychotherapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. In her role at Medlin Treatment Center, Dr. Valgoi offers evidence based trauma treatment as well as forensic psychological evaluations in sexual abuse cases.
