Julie Medlin, Ph.D.

Dr. Medlin is a licensed psychologist and trauma expert who has over 30 years of clinical and forensic experience in the specialty areas of sexual trauma and sexual behavior problems. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Harvard University, and her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida. She has extensive experience conducting psychotherapy and psychological evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in conducting forensic psychological evaluations of sexual abuse victims and perpetrators of all ages in cases of alleged and confirmed sexual abuse. She served as the forensic evaluator for the Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) Clinic at the University of Georgia School of Law, conducting forensic psychological evaluations in sexual abuse cases.
Dr. Medlin is Past President of the Georgia Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. She also served on the Georgia Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Advisory Council and on the Georgia Sex Offender Registration Review Board. Dr. Medlin co-authored a sex offender treatment manual, training materials for mental health professionals, articles on sexual abuse, and a book for parents on how to protect their children from sexual abuse. In addition, she has provided numerous trainings for mental health professionals, attorneys, judges, and correctional agencies. Dr. Medlin has also appeared as an expert on national televisions programs for CNN and Discovery Health, as well as several nationally syndicated programs.
Dr. Medlin frequently serves a forensic evaluator/expert witness in criminal and civil cases, including in personal injury litigation. To date, she has testified 252 times in juvenile, superior, and federal courts. She has served as a damages expert, for both the plaintiff and defendant, in personal injury litigation for cases in Georgia, Alabama, Illinois, Texas, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, South Carolina, Alaska, California, Colorado, Michigan, Arkansas, Maryland, District of Columbia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Washington. She is authorized to practice in the 43 states that participate in PSYPACT under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) and Temporary Authorization to Practice
(TAP).
