Chris Ackerman, Ph.D.

Dr. Chris Ackerman has over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. In 1993, he earned his Masters Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. In 2002, he earned his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. He has been a licensed psychologist in Georgia since 2006. He has been working at Medlin Treatment Center since 2023 where he conducts forensic psychological and psychosexual evaluations, forensic record reviews for civil litigation, and long-term individual therapy for clients with complex trauma and sexual disorders. he has also worked with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice since 2007 and currently serves as the psychologist at four juvi9nile detention facilities, providing clinical supervision and consultation, psychodiagnostics evaluations, risk assessments, quality assurances, and clinical review audits. he also assists with training and policy updates provided by the Office of Behavioral health Services. he has experience in clinical and risk assessment, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies, sex offender treatment and treatment of adolescences and adults with various trauma-related disorders. Dr. Ackerman is authorized to practice in the 43 stats that participate in the PSYPACT under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT).
