Chris Ackerman, Ph.D.
Chris Ackerman has been a licensed psychologist in Georgia since 2006. He earned his doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Denver. Dr. Ackerman has over 30 years of experience working in a diverse range of mental health, psychiatric, and correctional settings since completing his masters work at the University of Southern Mississippi. He completed his internship and a post-doctoral fellowship working with civilly committed adult sex offenders at the Arizona Community and Protection and Treatment Center and continued his work at the Florida Civil Commitment Center completing psychosexual evaluations.
He currently provides psycho-diagnostic evaluations, counseling, and supervision of staff working with adolescents in juvenile detention facilities as well as provides counseling and psychological assessments at Medlin Treatment Center. He specializes in working with behavioral disorders, trauma, ADHD, adjustment concerns, anxiety and mood disorders, relationship conflict, and compulsive behavior.
